Tuesdays are our favourite day of the week. Why? Because every Tuesday we get new animals come into our shop. It doesn’t matter if they’re reptile, amphibian or spider it’s always exciting.
So who was new in this week?
Whites Tree Frogs are one of the largest tree frogs around. They are relatively easy to care for providing all of their environmental requirements are met. We have 4 new babies in and they are absolutely adorable.
Orange Phillipine Tarantulas are a stunningly beautiful spider. Their bright orange legs and body really makes them stand out. Be careful though, not all that glitters is gold, these are fearless aggressive spiders and are definately not to be handled.
Peninsular Cooters are a species of Terrapin. They might look cute at the moment but our 4 babies will all grow into large adults. They are not difficult to look after but they deserve to be kept where they will have plenty of room.
The Western Hognose Snake is the only venemous snake that we have in our shop. However, as they are rear fanged it’s very unlikely that you would ever get bitten. They can be quite fiesty but it always seems to be a bluff. As adults they are a relatively short, fat snake.
Corn Snakes are the easiest snake for any body to keep. The Carolina Corn Snake is a varient of the common pattern but with lighter patches on it’s body. Our 2 babies really are lovely looking. An excellent first time pet.
The Chile Rose Tarantula is the most commonly kept tarantula in the world. Compared to other spiders it’s relativle peaceful and looks like an 8 legged teddy bear. We already had lots of spiderlings but these 2 adults will no doubt not be here very long.
Our 2 new Yellow and Black Poison Arrow Frogs are absolutely beautiful. In the wild they become poisonous by eating fire ants. As all our animals are captive bred these guys eat crickets and are not toxic. Poison Arrow frogs need a humid jungle environment in order to be happy.

I didnt know that about poisen arrow frogs. nice fact.
Yeah pretty cool huh?
The Orange Tarantula is amazing! How big do they get? If they are agressive, do they leave a nasty bit or much worse?
They’re not a massive spider Nick, around the 5-6 inch range depending on sex. Nobody has ever died directly as a result of tarantula venom but you certainly wouldn’t want a bite off it!
Hi Gary,
The fact is that a “…few people have died from spider venom, but I know of no species anywhere on earth capable of causing death in humans in as much as 10% of cases, even if untreated…”

Hi, Cool going i really love Deals,,Arrivals,, and Service in this Centre , i dont think im scared of that Tarantula but better not ever hold one, reptiles are more friendly tho till now i kept 2 European Baby Tortoises, 1 Pond terrapin, and 1 Firebelly toad, i really loved ‘em all cute,,gorgeous,, and really friendly. I just love reptiles
Hey Gary.
Ive heard from the web that if you put 2 MALE tortoises in one vivarium, they could have an awful fight that one of them could get killer, is that true or false? id like a reply and i own 2 baby tortoises i truely dont know their gender but im afraid to put them both in one big vivarium, each one is in it’s own XSmall vivarium, i feel sad for them when they knock trying to get out,, so decided to put them both in one big vivarium but thats the point i need the answer please
2 males could fight when mature. Unfortunately as babies you can’t sex them with 100% certainty.
If they seem happy together I would carry on with that, you will soon see if one starts to bully the other. If this happens you will just need to seperate them.
Hope this helps
I Dnt like that orange tarantula, i just couldnt call any huge spiders as cute tarantulas unless they have hairy bodies, so id really prefer the chile rose.
as much as i am scared of spiders ( i know i know)
the orange is amazing.Did the blue beauties arrive ?
