after 3 months the first batch of our eggs have begun hatching 4 have hatched fully and another 2 are hatching, only another 6 to go this month anyway.

This prize is amazing My son and daughter have finally made me cave in and we are going to be getting them a pair of Bearded dragons. This would be a fantastic start for them after the amount of research my son has put in!
I hope I win because when we rescued our beardie she was underweight (for a german giant) and also not very well cared for but that was 3mth ago and now she the right weight healthy and happy but her cage is slightly to small, and i think that she deserves a treat

i would love this viv for my son who want’s a beardie as his gecko has recently died and he was so upset to loose her as he took very good care of her as she was really ill when we got her and we thought she was doing well but she died suddenly so he was left heart broken but now he has spotted the beardie and wants one but as im a single mum i cant afford to buy one from new so i would love to win this for my son (caring 8 year old boy) as it would make his day thanks

I used to own a chamleon and had to give it away as I was called up in the Army, whilst on tour I saw loads of lizards and it got me through the day, with hours spent trying to catch them! It got me through some long days … Now I’m home it’d be great to own one to bring back all the joys …

Hi guys, well popped in for a visit (sat) looking at tarantula’s bumped into Sam and got chatting about Beardie’s my kids fell in love with them and me too – especially the fact that they loved to be handled. we had some ghost cornsnakes a few years ago that were robbed from our house and couldn’t bear to replace them untill now. We are saving to buy the viv and then hope to get the beardies once we have set everything up. It would be cool to take them into my class and educate the children about them next term as we study dragons descriptions and stories. Anyway im sounding desperate now – so what will be, will be. Bearded Dragons grow to on average 20 inches to 24 inches….not 15 to 18, also they will on average live 12 to 15 years not 8 to 10, 4 x 2 x2 is too small for three adult beardys, when over crowded like that you willmost likely get fights, even between females! also in the video you show a mat stat for use with a ceramic heater? mat stats are only suitable for heatmats for a ceramic you need a pulse proportional stat, with the bad postitioning of your probe, and 2 spot bulbs the wont be a sufficient temp gradient to allow beardys to escape the heat they dont want the whole viv 110% just the basking spot, just thougt you needed to know those things, sort it out
Hi ‘Dave’, thanks for your comments. I do disagree with a lot of them, as I would never promote a product that was harmful to the animals it is intended for. In this trade there will always be differences of opinion, but that’s a good thing, techniques would never advance otherwise.
Our methods are based upon over 20 years experience keeping and breeding Bearded Dragons. The Northampton area is saturated with beardies due to our customer’s animals also thriving and breeding in this setup.
24 inches is large for a Bearded Dragon and not an average size in captivity. Larger beardies are more commonly available now due to new ‘giant’ strains being bred. People buying these strains should be made aware of this when they buying their beardie. For a standard P. vitticeps 18 inches is an accepted average size.
Beardies have indeed lived to 15 years but these are exceptions and not an average life span. When putting information together we have to generalize but maybe we should also mention the exceptions that you refer to.
Considering we sell (or give away) 100s of these animals each year we never have to deal with females fighting in a 4x2x2 vivarium. If we are helping people with fighting lizards, it is always because they have aquired two males (sexing mistakes can happen when the dragons are young). I’m not saying females have never faught, but again, this is a rare exception and not the rule.
The positioning of the sensor, bulbs etc creates a basking area in our vivs of 100-110oF in the basking area and betwenn 78-82oF at the cool end. This is perfect and exactly what we want. The Mat Stat will only swing our ceramic bulb temperature by a couple of degrees at most which is more than acceptable with bearded dragons (i test everything myself with my array of gadgets).
Like I say, I appreciate your comments as it’s good to justify why we do things the way we do, but I work for a company that always puts the animals first and I’m sure our customers will testify to this. As an animal lover myself, I wouldn’t accept below par standards.
