Dairy Cow Isopods - 10 Pack

Dairy cow ispods (Porcellio laevis) are great when used as terrarium custodians or 'clean-up crew' and will live and breed well in bioactive set-ups.

As adults, they may attain a length of up to 20mm long. Dairy cow isopods are also useful as a livefood for many reptiles and amphibians and have the advantage of a high calcium content due to their calcarious exo-skeleton. If they are to be used as food, they are best served up in a smooth-sided dish in much the same way as mealworms or calci-worms. To thrive and become established in the terrarium, they need to be in a constantly damp and humid microclimate which normally means that they hide away for much of the time under branches, rocks or within the substrate.

Your woodlice will be delivered in a plastic container. The sides of the plastic tub are perforated to provide maximum ventilation with minimum risk of escape.

To keep the isopods healthy we would recommend you continue to feed them on a nutritious vegetable and fruit diet or with insect food.

Springtails

Springtails are a useful food for people who breed many species of amphibians (particularly poison dart frogs) where the newly metamorphosed froglets are too small to take even micro crickets. They also form an essential part of a bio-active forest terrarium where they help to clean up waste and detritus from the tank.

Whiteworms

Whiteworms can be placed in small amphibian enclosures and aswell as being a snack for your pet they will also break down waste and help to recycle nutrients. For this reason they make an excellent addition to natural vivariums that incorperate soils and plants.

Small Worms

Our worms are farm bred in ethical conditions and fed on a completely organic diet. The worms are well fed before packing and gut loaded to ensure they are as nutritious as possible when they get to your door. We are certain you will love our worms due to their great nutritional properties, how active they are and the speed of our delivery service.

Bean Weevils

We send our bean weavil cultures in a large square plastic box with small airholes. The bottom of the box is lined with beans holding the bean weavil larvae. Above the layer of beans the box is filled with thin curved strips of wood. Over the course of a week or so the bean weavils will hatch and move up into the wood leaving you with a tub full of weavils.
