About Leopard Geckos

Leopard geckos are a very popular pet lizard for younger or first time keepers as they a great looking but don't require much care to keep and are very easy to handle. As leopard geckos are quite slow during the day and usually very freindly they are one of the best reptiles to start with.

They come from arid regions like Pakistan and require a fairly intense and dry heat during the day. Leopard geckos are crepuscular meaning that they come out at dusk and dawn but will be most active in low or no light. We still provide UV and heat all day just in case they need to bask. At night the leopard gecko should have a heatmat contolled by a thermostat to keep the floor warm on one end.

Leopard geckos are insectivores so will only eat insects. We usually feed live crickets or locust as the main diet. As a treat the leopard gecko might enjoy cockroaches, mealworms, waxworms, calci-worms or other small insects. These can be hard to digest or quite fatty so we would usually only add it to the diet once or twice a week.
