Springtails - Colony

Our springtails are the main cleaner crew for bioactive enclosures. They are very small and hard to catch making them a great cleaner crew for larger amphibians and reptiles. They can also be fed to very small amphibians and invertebrates in place of flies but will be a bit of a smaller meal. Our springtails are dispatched direct from the breeder and will be as healthy as possible on arrival.

This product will be delivered in a plastic container. The bottom of the tub is covered in nutrient rich soil based substrate. The sides of the plastic tub are perforated to provide maximum ventilation with minimum risk of escape. The colony will usually start to hatch in transit and should be fully populated within a week.

If you want to keep the springtails as nutritious as possible we would recommend you continue to feed them on aspecialist springtail diet.

Giant Orange Woodlice Culture

Giant Orange Woodlice (Porcellio sp.) are one of the larger species of isopod commonly used as terrarium custodians or 'clean-up crew' and live and breed well in bio-active set-ups. As adults, they may attain a length of up to 18mm long. Giant Orange Woodlice are also useful as a livefood for many reptiles and amphibians and have the advantage of a high calcium content due to their calcarious exo-skeleton. If they are to be used as food, they are best served up in a smooth-sided dish in much the same way as mealworms or calci-worms. To thrive and become established in the terrarium, they need to be in a constantly damp and humid microclimate which normally means that they hide away for much of the time under branches, rocks or within the substrate. They are supplied in tubs as a starter culture of various sizes.

This product will be delivered in a plastic container. The bottom of the tub is covered in nutrient rich soil based substrate. The sides of the plastic tub are perforated to provide maximum ventilation with minimum risk of escape. The colony is usually hatched in transit and should be fully populated within a week.

If you want to keep the giant orange woodlice as long as possible we would recommend you continue to feed them on a nutritious vegetable and fruit diet or with insect food.

Morio Worms - 50g Pack
Morio Worms 50g per tub

Morio Worms as Reptile Food

Our morio worms are a great treat in a reptile or amphibians diet. They are very high in protein, quite high in fat and make a hearty meal so we would recommend them once maybe twice a week in addition to the main insect diet. Our morio worms are dispatched direct from the breeder and will be gut loaded before packing to make sure that they are as nutritious as possible on arrival.

Morio worms are the perfect size for bearded dragons, water dragons, basilisk, iguana, turtles, monitor lizards and chameleons. In store we use them as an occasional treat for our larger lizards and turtles.

This product will be delivered in a plastic container including a bran substrate. Small airholes perforate the side at regular intervals to provide maximum ventilation with minimal chance of escape. The bran inside provides some cover and insulation in transit whilst also being a basic food for the worms. During the summer months the outer cardboard box may also include perforations to keep them cool while in colder months we may include a plain white heatpack.

You'll love them because:
  • We guarantee freshness or your money back
  • They are farm bred in ethical conditions.
  • They are pre-fed to ensure your reptile is getting a healthy and nutritious meal.
  • Delivered straight to your door in good time.
We recommend morio worms for the following animal types:
  • Bearded dragons
  • Monitor lizards
  • Turtles
  • Iguanas
  • Water dragons

Each order of livefood will also come with a free ProRep Jelly pot. The worms can last quite a while without food but will dehydrate within a week without a source of hydration. We have found that they don't do very well with open bodies of water so the jelly pot is an effective alternative. Simply put the jelly pot into your tub after a day or two of receiving the item.

If you want to keep the morio worms as nutritious as possible we would recommend you continue to feed them on a nutritious vegetable diet or with insect foods. For more information on the diet please consult our livefood caresheet.

Springtails

Springtails are a useful food for people who breed many species of amphibians (particularly poison dart frogs) where the newly metamorphosed froglets are too small to take even micro crickets. They also form an essential part of a bio-active forest terrarium where they help to clean up waste and detritus from the tank.

Whiteworms

Whiteworms can be placed in small amphibian enclosures and aswell as being a snack for your pet they will also break down waste and help to recycle nutrients. For this reason they make an excellent addition to natural vivariums that incorperate soils and plants.

Small Worms

Our worms are farm bred in ethical conditions and fed on a completely organic diet. The worms are well fed before packing and gut loaded to ensure they are as nutritious as possible when they get to your door. We are certain you will love our worms due to their great nutritional properties, how active they are and the speed of our delivery service.

Bean Weevils

We send our bean weavil cultures in a large square plastic box with small airholes. The bottom of the box is lined with beans holding the bean weavil larvae. Above the layer of beans the box is filled with thin curved strips of wood. Over the course of a week or so the bean weavils will hatch and move up into the wood leaving you with a tub full of weavils.
