At Northampton Reptile Centre, we stock only high-quality live mealworms (Tenebrio molitor larvae), raised on a nutritious diet by trusted breeders and carefully selected for their activity and health.
Mealworms are an excellent source of energy and protein for a wide range of animals. While they’re ideal for reptiles and amphibians, garden birds like robins, blackbirds, wrens, and starlings also enjoy them, especially during the breeding season when fledglings need the most support.
Each batch is pre-fed, packed for freshness, and shipped quickly to ensure strong, healthy arrival. Whether you're feeding chameleons, geckos, frogs, or bearded dragons, or want to attract wild birds to your garden with a mealworm feeder, these beetle larvae are a beneficial, year-round treat. Add to your cart, set up a subscription, and enjoy fast, dependable livefood delivery to your door.
Store live mealworms in a cool, dry place, such as a ventilated tub with bran or oats. Add slices of apple or vegetables for moisture, and remove mouldy food to reduce bacteria build-up. Keep the containers clean and avoid overcrowding to extend their life and maintain quality.
Mealworms are a rich source of protein, fat, and calcium, making them an essential treat for reptiles, amphibians, hedgehogs, and many bird species. Whether used in a bird feeder or as part of a varied diet for your pets, they contribute to growth, survival, and overall health.
Keep mealworms in a dry place with good airflow, away from direct heat. Use bran or oats as bedding and provide occasional moisture with apple slices. For longer storage, refrigerate around 8–10°C to slow their development into mealworm beetles (darkling beetles), but check regularly to avoid condensation and mould.
Besides mealworms, Northampton Reptile Centre sells a range of live food in various sizes and bulk bags. This includes black crickets, locusts, silent brown crickets, cockroaches, grubs, waxworms and flies.
