Description

Giant Mealworms as Reptile Food

Many reptiles and amphibians rely on giant mealworms as a key part of their livefood diet.

They are easy to catch, highly nutritious, but high in fat, so we recommend them as an occasional treat for your reptile once or twice a week. The mealworms are dispatched directly from the breeder and will be gut-loaded before packing to make sure that they are as nutritious as possible on arrival.

Giant mealworms are very large, so they are the perfect size for large reptiles. In the store, we use them to feed all of our adult bearded dragons, skinks, and monitor lizards.

You'll love them because:

  • We guarantee freshness or your money back.
  • They are farm-bred in ethical conditions.
  • They are pre-fed to ensure your reptile is getting a healthy and nutritious meal.
  • Delivered straight to your door in good time.

Packaging

This product arrives in a ventilated plastic tub. Small air holes along the sides provide airflow while keeping the worms safely contained. In warmer months, the outer cardboard box may have extra perforations for cooling. In colder months, we may include a plain white heat pack to help maintain a suitable temperature during transit.

Feeding Guide

If you want to keep the giant mealworms as nutritious as possible, we recommend feeding them a healthy diet right up until they're used.

  • Offer fresh leafy greens, carrots, squash, or sweet potatoes; these provide hydration and essential nutrients.
  • You can also use specialist insect foods or gut-loading diets to boost their nutritional value for your reptile.
  • Remove any uneaten food daily to keep the enclosure clean and prevent mould or decay.

Well-fed worms make for excellent food and are far more beneficial, helping support your reptile’s health and digestion. For more information on their diet, please consult our livefood care sheet. If you’re looking for other types of reptile food, we also stock frozen reptile food, animal-specific, vegetation, and supplement options.

Animal Suitability

We recommend giant mealworms for the following animal types:

  • Blue Tongue Skinks
  • Ackie Monitors
  • Iguanas
  • Adult Bearded Dragons

Care Instructions

Keep giant mealworms at room temperature, away from direct sunlight or draughts. Add fresh food at regular intervals to keep them healthy and active.

Avoid overcrowding by providing size-appropriate housing with plenty of hiding spots and space to burrow.

Looking after your live food properly helps ensure your lizard or other pet gets the best nutrition possible.

Livefood Freshness Guarantee

We know how important it is to have fresh, reliable live food delivered on time. That’s why we ship live food five days a week using fast, trusted couriers. Most orders are packed on the same day they're dispatched and sent straight from the breeder, so they arrive in the best condition possible.

However, delivery can take a day or two, and sometimes things don’t go perfectly in transit. For your peace of mind, we have implemented the Livefood Freshness Guarantee! If your livefood doesn’t arrive in the best condition, or there is an issue with the size or quality, get in touch with our team and we’ll resolve it for you.
