Here at the Northampton Reptile Centre, we understand that the quality of your reptile's food matters as much as anything else in their care. That's why we stock only high quality frozen multimammates sourced from suppliers who share our standards.
Multimammate mice are slightly larger than standard mice, making them a natural step up for snakes that need a bigger prey item. They're particularly well suited as a natural diet for royal pythons, which feed on them in the wild, other snakes and reptiles of a similar size, as well as turtles, tortoises, and amphibians. For species that can be picky feeders, frozen multimammates are often the prey item that gets results where others haven't.
Our frozen multimammate mice are farm bred and raised in clean environments before being humanely slaughtered and flash frozen to preserve their full nutritional value. Each order is packed into individually sealed packs, placed in a polystyrene box with dry ice included, and dispatched on a next day delivery service so your frozen food arrives in great condition and ready to store straight in your freezer. Every frozen food delivery is backed by our full guarantee.
Multimammate mice, also called African soft furred rats, are a rodent species native to Africa. They're slightly larger than common mice and are part of the natural diet of several snake species in the wild, most notably royal pythons. Their nutritional value and natural appeal to certain species makes them one of the most popular frozen foods for reptile keepers in the UK.
Yes, they're an excellent choice. Royal pythons naturally feed on African soft furred rats in their native habitat, so frozen multimammates closely mirror their natural diet. Many keepers find that royal pythons which are reluctant to feed on standard mice will readily accept multimammates instead.
Store them in your freezer in their sealed packs until needed. To defrost, thaw the amount you need in the fridge overnight or at room temperature for a few hours. Never use hot water or a microwave. Once thawed, feed promptly.
Yes. Buying in larger quantities is a great way to keep your freezer stocked and ensure your reptiles always have the right prey item to hand.
