Leopard Gecko Care Sheet

Natural History

Leopard geckos are a very commonly kept pet lizard perfect for beginners. They are crepuscular meaning that they are most active in low light conditions after sunset and before sunrise. They can become more active during the day in captivity but they are generally much slower than many other commonly kept lizards. They have smooth skin and bright colours. Over the years they have been selectively bred for a number of patterns and colours producing some stunning geckos.

Leopard geckos spend most of the day time in their burrows trying to stay cool but they will come out and bask if they require UVB. Once the sun has set and the full intensity of heat and light has dimmed they will hunt small insects.
