Our mealworms are part of the staple livefood diet for many reptiles and amphibians.
They are easy to catch, highly nutritious, but high in fat, so make for a tasty treat for your reptile or amphibian once or twice a week. Our live mealworms are dispatched directly from the breeder and will be gut-loaded before packing to make sure that they are as nutritious as possible on arrival.
Mealworms are only slightly larger than mini mealworms, so they are the perfect size for baby reptiles, small amphibians, fish, and many insectivorous invertebrates (e.g., mantis and tarantulas). In the store, we use the mealworms to feed all of our bearded dragons and geckos as a treat.
We guarantee freshness or your money back.
They are farm-bred in ethical conditions.
They are pre-fed to ensure your reptile is getting a healthy and nutritious meal.
Delivered straight to your door in good time.
Your mealworms arrive in a ventilated plastic tub with small air holes for airflow and secure containment. In warmer weather, the outer cardboard box may have extra perforations to keep them cool. During colder months, a plain white heat pack may be included to help maintain a stable temperature in transit.
If you want to keep the mealworms as nutritious as possible, we recommend feeding them a healthy diet right up until they're used.
Offer fresh leafy greens, carrots, squash, or sweet potatoes; these provide hydration and essential nutrients.
You can also use specialist insect foods or gut-loading diets to boost their nutritional value for your reptile.
Remove any uneaten food daily to keep the enclosure clean and prevent mould or decay.
Well-fed worms make for excellent food and are far more beneficial, helping support your reptile’s health and digestion. For more information on their diet, please consult our livefood care sheet. If you’re looking for other types of reptile food, we also stock frozen reptile food, animal-specific, vegetation, and supplement options.
We recommend mealworms for the following animal types:
Large Frogs
Adult Chameleons
Juvenile to Adult Spiders
Juvenile Bearded Dragons
Adult Leopard Geckos
Adult Crested Geckos
Keep mealworms at room temperature, away from direct sunlight or draughts. Add fresh food at regular intervals to keep them healthy and active.
Avoid overcrowding by providing size-appropriate housing with plenty of hiding spots and space to burrow.
Looking after your live food properly helps ensure your lizard or other pet gets the best nutrition possible.

Yes, mealworms are protein-rich beetle larvae that make an excellent source of nutrition. They’re best fed as part of a varied diet for reptiles and amphibians so offer them in moderation to avoid health risks from excess fat or hard shells.
For long-term storage, keep them refrigerated (ideally 42–55°F/ 6–13°C) in their containers with wheat bran bedding and a slice of apple for moisture. Avoid damp areas to prevent bacteria growth.
Dried mealworms can be fed occasionally as a treat, however, they contain less moisture than live larvae, so rehydrate them if needed. It is not ideal as a staple food source for moisture-dependent species like axolotls, tree frogs, or newts.
If fed in moderation and stored well, mealworms pose no health risk. Avoid feeding them dead insects and always buy from trusted suppliers for good quality.
Yes, many species like robins, wrens, blackbirds, and starlings enjoy them. They’re especially valuable during breeding season for feeding chicks. You can add surplus to a bird feeder or sprinkle on the ground to support your garden birds.
Our live mealworms are of good quality, freshly packed, gut-loaded, and part of a trusted range used daily in our own Reptile Centre.
