About Crested Geckos

Crested geckos are the most commonly kept arboreal gecko in the UK. This is because they don't get very large, are commonly found in reptile centres, are usually very friendly, and much less jumpy than other arboreal geckos. They can display a range of patterns and colours making them a very versatile pet and can live up to 15-20 years.

As a native of New Caledonia the crested gecko will need a relatively warm enclosure with high humidity and ventilation. These geckos usually live in the trees and canopies so will want plenty of height to climb and a number of hard wood decorations to allow them to leap from branch to branch. They would get a small ammount of UV through the canopy so we recommend keeping them with a 5% UVB lamp to ensure they can create their own vitamin D.

The crested geckos diet is usually a mixture of fruit/protein diets and livefoods. For the fruit portion we would usually use meal replacement diets like Repashy Superfoods. For the livefood portion we would usually recommend brown crickets and locust.
