Our locusts are part of the main livefood diet of many reptile and amphibian diets. They are easy to catch, highly nutritious and quite easy to digest, making them perfect for daily feeding. They are dispatched directly from the breeder and will be gut-loaded before packing to make sure that they are as nutritious as possible on arrival.
Large locusts are the perfect size for dragons, lizards, geckos, fish, frogs and many insectivorous invertebrates (e.g. mantis and tarantulas). In the store we use the large locusts to feed our toads, geckos, juvenile dragons, tree frogs and juvenile turtles.
We guarantee freshness or your money back.
They are farm-bred in ethical conditions.
They are pre-fed to ensure your reptile is getting a healthy and nutritious meal.
Delivered straight to your door in good time.
This product comes in a ventilated plastic tub with a section of egg-box cardboard inside. The small air holes allow for airflow while keeping the insects secure.
The egg-box gives them more space to spread out, helping to prevent overcrowding. During warmer months, the outer cardboard box may include extra perforations for cooling.
In colder months, we’ll often add a heat pack to help maintain a safe temperature in transit.
If you want to keep the locusts as nutritious as possible, we recommend feeding them a healthy diet right up until they're fed to your pet.
Offer fresh leafy greens, carrots, squash, or sweet potato, these provide hydration and essential nutrients.
You can also use specialist insect foods or gut-loading diets to boost their nutritional value for your reptile.
Remove any uneaten food daily to keep the enclosure clean and prevent mould or decay.
Well-fed locusts make for excellent food and are far more beneficial, helping support your reptile’s health and digestion. For more information on their diet please consult our livefood care sheet. If you’re looking for other types of reptile food, we also stock frozen, animal-specific, vegetation and supplement options.
We recommend large locusts for the following animal types:
Tree Frogs
Toads
Juvenile dragons
Juvenile geckos
Tarantulas
Juvenile turtles
Keep adult or large locusts in packaging at room temperature, away from direct sunlight or draughts. Add fresh food at regular intervals to keep them healthy and active.
Avoid overcrowding, especially if you're housing them with other locusts or crickets.
Looking after your live food properly helps ensure your lizard or other pet gets the best nutrition possible.

Large locusts are perfect for most reptiles, including bearded dragons, water dragons and leopard geckos.
Yes, all live locusts are sent in a well-ventilated container with our Livefood Freshness Guarantee and fast delivery service.
Keep them in a ventilated container at room temperature and add a small amount of bug gel, veg, or fruit to help them survive.
Locusts may nibble soft fruit or veg but they rarely bite pets. We recommend removing uneaten bugs after feeding to reduce risk.
Locusts are slightly slower moving and less noisy than crickets, making them easier for many reptiles to catch and eat once you release them into the tank.
Ours are freshly packed, gut-loaded, and part of a trusted range used daily in our own Reptile Centre.
