Description

ProRep's 120x45x45cm vivarium range offers high-quality, lightweight, and affordable housing for reptiles. With a sleek black aluminium frame, these vivariums provide an unbeatable view of your pet and their habitat. But aside from being lightweight, easy to build, and stunning to look at, they also pack some seriously clever design choices.

Key features:

  • Side-mounted vents allow the back of the enclosure to be placed against a wall.
  • Hidden channels for the screws to make sure they can't scratch other surfaces.
  • Easy access, adjustable rear cable management.
  • A 5mm ventilation lip around the top and bottom panels, ensuring air flow.

Superior Strength

Unlike traditional all-wooden vivariums, the ProRep vivarium range utilises a robust aluminium frame as its main support structure. This elegant change eliminates the risk of wearing or splitting panels over time. Additionally, as the aluminium profile runs along all of the outer edges, it is able to securely lock side and back panels in place for a rigid, long-lasting build, designed to last for years.

Lightweight

Thanks to the strength of the aluminium frame, the ProRep vivarium range can utilise thinner and lighter panels without sacrificing durability. The bottom panel is crafted from 12mm melamine-coated chipboard, and the sides from 6mm melamine-coated chipboard. The lid remains 15mm thick, which has become the standard for wooden vivariums, as it allows a variety of equipment to be screwed directly into the ceiling of the enclosure and held securely in place. All of these improvements in weight and design lead to a vivarium that's easy to build and light enough to relocate.

Maximum Visibility

Owing to the aluminium corner posts, there is no longer a need to use large obstructive support plinths on the front of the enclosure. For maximum visibility, the ProRep vivarium range includes a bottom strip of glass, topped with a black runner for the sliding glass doors, which extend all the way to the ceiling. The front profile is visually stunning when fully decorated.

Frequently Asked Questions

What reptiles is the ProRep 120x45x45cm vivarium suitable for?

The 120 x 45 x 45cm format gives a spacious footprint suited to adult corn snakes, bearded dragons and other medium to large terrestrial reptiles that need a longer enclosure. The 45cm depth provides enough room for a proper temperature gradient from the warm basking end to the cool end, and the full height sliding glass frontage gives clear visibility across the whole setup.

How does the aluminium frame improve on a traditional wooden vivarium?

In a traditional all-wooden vivarium, the wood itself carries the structural load, which means panels can wear or split over time. The ProRep uses robust aluminium corner posts that run along all outer edges, locking the side and back panels in place for a rigid, long lasting build. This means the side panels can be thinner and lighter than a standard wooden vivarium without any compromise on durability, making the 120cm enclosure easier to handle and relocate than you'd expect at this size.

Can the ProRep 120x45x45cm be placed against a wall?

Yes. The side-mounted vents are a deliberate design choice that allows the back of the enclosure to sit flush against a wall without blocking airflow. A 5mm ventilation lip around the top and bottom panels maintains consistent airflow throughout the enclosure regardless of placement. Hidden screw channels on the exterior also mean the vivarium won't scratch adjacent surfaces if it's positioned in a tight space.

What are the panel thicknesses on the ProRep 120x45x45cm?

The bottom panel is 12mm melamine-coated chipboard, the side panels are 6mm, and the top panel is 15mm. The thicker lid matches the standard for wooden vivariums, allowing heating and lighting equipment to be screwed directly into the ceiling of the enclosure and held securely in place. The thinner side panels are possible because the aluminium frame carries the structural load, keeping overall weight down across a vivarium of this size.
