Live Large Bloodworms as Aquatic Food

Our live large bloodworms are part of the main livefood diet of many aquatic animal diets.

They are easy to catch and highly nutritious. Bloodworms are a great staple food for your aquatic animals. They are dispatched directly from the breeder and will be pre-fed before packing to make sure that they are as nutritious as possible on arrival.

In the store, we use the bloodworms as food for our Axolotls, Turtles, Fish and Aquatic Turtles.

You'll love them because:

  • We guarantee freshness or your money back.

  • They are farm-bred in ethical conditions.

  • They are pre-fed to ensure your pet is getting a healthy and nutritious meal.

  • Delivered straight to your door in good time.

Packaging

The bloodworms arrive in a sealed plastic bag with 100ml of water to keep them safe.

In warmer months, the outer cardboard box may have extra perforations for cooling. In colder months, we may include a plain white heat pack to help maintain a suitable temperature during transit.

Feeding Guide

These items can be kept in the fridge for 5-7 days while still in the sealed packet. Once opened, use immediately.

  • Use a sieve to separate the live food from the water.

  • Remove any uneaten food daily to keep the enclosure clean and prevent decay.

Live large bloodworms make for excellent food and are far more beneficial, helping support your aquatic creature's health and digestion. If you’re looking for other types of reptile or aquatic food, we also stock frozen, animal-specific, vegetation, and supplement options.

Animal Suitability

We recommend bloodworms for the following animal types:

  • Axolotls

  • Large fish

  • Turtles

  • Aquatic Frogs

Care Instructions

Keep live large bloodworms at chilled temperatures, away from direct sunlight or draughts.

Looking after your live food properly helps ensure your aquatic pet gets the best nutrition possible.

Frequently Asked Questions

What animals can consume live large bloodworms?

These worms are ideal for tropical and coldwater fish, amphibians, axolotls, and turtles. Many aquarists also feed them to aquatic frogs. They are versatile and suitable for a wide range of species.

How should I store live large bloodworms after purchase?

Keep the sealed pack in the fridge, where they will last up to 5–7 days. Once opened, rinse before feeding and use immediately. Always remove uneaten food to maintain a clean environment.

Why should I feed live bloodworms instead of processed food?

Live wriggling worms encourage natural feeding behaviour and provide high protein for growth and conditioning. Unlike processed options, they support better digestion and true breeding health in aquatic species. Many customers find them more beneficial for their fish and amphibians.

Can live large bloodworms be used for fish breeding and conditioning?

Yes, they are an excellent choice for breeding projects. Their protein-rich content makes them ideal for preparing aquatic animals to spawn. Aquarists often use them to lead their fish into better health and successful reproduction.
