Piggyback Plant (Tolmiea Menziesii)

Description

Piggyback Plant (Tolmiea Menziesii) is a unique and attractive plant that comes in a 12cm pot. This clump-forming, semi-evergreen perennial can reach up to 60cm tall and forms a compact, dense mat of rounded, hairy leaves with long stalks and five to seven lobes. In late spring to early summer, it produces spikes of small, tubular to bell-shaped, green and purple-brown flowers, measuring 1cm in length, that rise above the foliage.

This exquisite plant thrives in cooler temperatures and can be grown in both partial and full shade. It prefers rich, well-watered soil and has a slow growth rate, often taking up to 5 years to reach its full height. However, the wait is certainly worthwhile.
