Why is it important to monitor your temperatures?

Reptiles, amphibians, and invertebrates are ectothermic (commonly called cold-blooded), which means they rely on outside sources of heat to regulate body temperature. When keeping these animals, we use Ceramic bulbs, Basking Bulbs, and heat mats to provide this heat. It is recommended that these are controlled by thermostats, and these thermometers work hand in hand with them to make sure the enclosure is at the correct temperature.

Why is monitoring your humidity important?

All reptiles and amphibians go through ecdysis, more commonly known as skin shedding; humidity helps them with this process by making it easier to get the old skin off. A lot of these also come from humid areas of the world, so you do want to make sure you are replicating their natural environment as much as possible
