Panther Chameleon

Panther chameleons are one of the most popular arboreal lizards to keep in the UK. They are very active, inquisitive and firm favourites with keepers that do not have a lot of time to handle their pet. The longest lived panther chameleons could live 5-7 years.

Panther chameleons can be found in many regions on Madagascar but are mostly found in the humid and warmest areas. They spend most of their day moving between basking spots to warm up and shaded areas to regulate their body temperature. While basking they are also exposed to a fair amount of UVB allowing them to maintain healthy bones.

Their diet mostly consists of invertebrates though some species will supplement their diet with vegetation. Panther chameleons In captivity are particularly fond of crickets and locust but they can tackle larger prey like mealworms or grubs as a treat.
